Mother and 11-Year-Old Daughter Featured as Nominees at Awards Ceremony

The Nelson Mandela is an icon to many, and it is only by mimicking a portion of his steps that we are able to make the world a better place. For Victorine Mbong Shu and her 11-year-old daughter Stacey Fru, one of the many things they have done as they journey through the 100 years Centenary Celebration of Tata Madiba’s life saw them sharing the stage as nominees at the Eastwave Radio, 92.2 FM 7th Annual Community Leadership Awards alongside more than 136 nominees.

The Keynote Address, was delivered by Board Member, Hanif Carrim, who applauded the nominees. To him, they are a reflection of the work that Eastwave Radio has been executing as a community radio station for over 23 years.

Of course, it is plausible that the good work that this mother and daughter do in transforming the scenes of parenting, education, childhood and even play is being recognised. This ceremony by Eastwave Radio highlights many afar, and celebrate young and old entrepreneurs, innovators and influencers in honour of Madiba.

It was a happy time after the awards ceremony as the hug crowd posed for pictures before separating. Stacey commented; “I have never taken a picture with so much people in an award ceremony.” Stacey is correct. Eastwave Radio made a mark. Who is next?
