There are many entrepreneurs you’ve met in your life who have proven that indeed, there is no limit to what one person can achieve in terms of changing world views and even solving social problems, naming them would result to a long exhilarating list. Still, there is a specific entrepreneur that I have had the privilege of knowing personally and whom at a glance, I’d vote out amongst the most influential business woman in Business and family.
Meet Victorine Mbong Shu, a motivational and guest speaker of choice for many. A group of young girls once attended one of her motivational talks and it was evident that they were oblivious of the mind shift that would take place on that day. If you have ever been in a room with a powerful person, you will agree with me that the aura in the room automatically changes as her presence was felt and heard. This is the exact atmosphere that filled the room as we watched Ms. Mbong Shu take a sit graciously.
Ms. Mbong Shu has established herself in business in South Africa. She is a multiple award-winning author of four books, a TV talk show host, CEO of Profounder Intelligence Management Services, Owner and COO of Profound Conference Centre, skills facilitator, Assessor, Moderator, mentor, BrandSA Ambassador, the list goes on and on. However, these accomplishments were never handed to her on a silver platter.
Ms Mbong Shu worked hard for every piece of recognition and accomplishment. She speaks about unimaginable hardships that she went through as she was trying to establish her career. One of her famous clichés is that, “Do not blame your situation, look at what you can get out from that situation. It’s all up to you.”
As a woman, a black woman, a foreign national; the work is twice as much. The journey is twice as hard. Yes, she has embodied empowerment and worn strength on her sleeves.
One would wonder what it is that has made her to be recognised as an outstanding force and a woman making moves in this era.
It is a rare quality that Ms. Mbong Shu possesses. She’s opinionated in her own right, yet humble enough to listen. She speaks of her journey, her downfalls and her truths with utter confidence.
It is her ability to be intimately involved in and devoted to whatever she does. Her work ethic is impeccable and it shows from her various works and in the way she manages to juggle everything and still emerges with nothing short of excellence. Above all, it’s her nurturing motherly spirit. She speaks passionately about women empowerment through giving them skills rather than hand-outs.
Ms Mbong Shu has classified herself as an Involved Parenting Conversationalist. Watch her space, because among African female entrepreneurs to watch out for, Ms. Mbong Shu is definitely a stride ahead and on top of the list.
